![]() It feels almost between latex and memory foam in the best way. It's soft enough that it doesn't cause ear pain and it doesn't get too hot. Tuft & Needle Foam Pillow - I wanted this one to work so bad. I gave it to my husband who is quite a bit larger than me, and it his favorite pillow. Also even with it seeming too soft, it made my ear hurt. So I exchanged it for a medium and it was way softer and I just could not get comfortable with it. ![]() It had a good level of firmness but was way to tall for my neck. Purple Harmony - I bought this at a Denver Mattress store and they only had the tall in stock and I wanted it right away. The core of it is pretty firm though and I got ear pain from it. I really liked the shoulder cutout and it was a good loft for me. Therapedic Shoulder Contour Bed Pillow - This one wasn't terrible. ![]() Hurt my ear and just was not comfortable. I like it stayed cool and the level of neck support and that's it. Purple Pillow - Recommended by a friend who hated the COOP pillow. Also, even though I returned it a couple of months ago, I'm still finding filling all over my house from adjusting it all the time. If I put it at the support level I want, it's too tall. If I put it at the proper height, its too soft. The height to width ratio to get the support I need has changed. They only come in queen and king now, so I bought a queen, and its not the same at all. However, it got ruined when I washed it, so I bought a new one. Here is my review of several pillows I've tried so far.Ĭoop Eden - This pillow worked for me for a couple of years when I got in the standard size. I cover all my pillows in a silk pillowcase, too, so cover material isn't that important to me as long as I don't feel it through the cover. I would say it's still pretty soft though. I have a king-size soft-side waterbed (the kind of bed that is a foam frame with a water core) and a firm latex topper. This means super firm pillows don't work for me. I also have TMJ and am prone to ear pain at night. I have had neck issues for years, likely due to having a job where I'm at a desk all day. I sleep on my side mostly, though I do occasionally roll onto my back. Broad shoulders for my size from years of weight lifting, but not more broad than average. I'm in my early 40s, am 5'3.5", and about 135 lbs. I figured I should share my findings in case someone else finds them helpful. I've been lurking around here for months trying to find a pillow to help my neck, back and TMJ/ear pain issues. I find that the fill moves around too much, and they trap heat more than some types of solid foam pillows. The pillows I'm not interested in are any shredded foam. ![]() Other ones I'm interested in are the Sleep Number Responsefit Ultimate Contour Pillow (I like that Responsefit foam in the curved pillow, it just wasn't enough loft for me), and the Nolah Airfoam pillow. Open-cell foam traps less heat and has a higher response/bounce back from pressure. This tells me my favorite pillows are open-cell foam pillows that have the texture of a soft sponge as opposed to closed-cell memory foam which has the texture of sticky dough. My third would be the Casaluna Foam Pillow from Target but it's firmer than the Pillow Cube unless I take it out of its case. It's just not comfortable if I roll onto my back. There was a big adjustment period with it but it feels the best on my shoulders out of all the pillows I have tried. My second favorite is the Pillow Cube Pro in the 5" loft. I didn't like it at first because it's super firm, but really is the perfect size for me, doesn't get too hot and I've gotten used to it and have had quality sleep on it. My current favorite is the Pluto Pillow which is a hybrid pillow with a fiberfill outer layer and a Serene foam core. Unfortunately, Leesa got bought out by the same company that owns Brooklyn Bedding and changed all their pillows to the same ones Brooklyn Bedding sells. It's the Leesa Premium Foam Pillow and I've been using it for 1.5 years now but it has started to wear down. UPDATE: I get a lot of questions about which my favorite has been so I'll put it here at the top. I also added a loft measurement for the pillows I actually measured. Things like the weight of your head or the firmness of your mattress/sleeping surface will change how firm a pillow feels. I filled out the firmness column, however, keep in mind this all subject to how the pillows felt to me. See newest reviews at the bottom: u/pspr33 kindly put all my reviews in a spreadsheet. ![]()
